Job summary

The Print Shop Foreman position with the State of South Dakota oversees the shop's production, scheduling, worker management, and quality control within a correctional facility located in Sioux Falls, SD. Responsibilities include directing incarcerated workers, coordinating workflow across production stages, managing inventory and equipment, and ensuring cost control.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of business operations and management including revenue, expenses, productivity.
• Experience managing day-to-day operations of a business/production environment.
• Understanding of financial management including budgeting, job costing, pricing, and cost controls.
• Experience supervising and developing staff, assigning work, coaching, and accountability.
• Knowledge of quality control principles and maintaining standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily work direction and supervision to incarcerated workers to meet production goals.
• Interviews, selects, assigns, evaluates, and terminates incarcerated workers.
• Trains workers in sewing, garment construction, upholstery, embroidery, measuring, cutting, assembly, and safety.
• Coordinates workflow between garment creation, cutting, sewing, embroidery, finishing, packaging, and shipping.
• Develops production schedules to meet deadlines and optimize efficiency.
• Maintains quality control and inventory for production.
• Monitors safety procedures and department policies.
• Orders supplies and maintains inventory levels; handles cost estimates.
