Job summary

Burlington Medical in Newport News, VA is seeking an Industrial Printer Equipment Maintenance Technician to set up, operate, and maintain Kornit Presto Max printing equipment. You will interpret work orders, troubleshoot issues, ensure color accuracy, and meet production standards.

Job description

Set-up, operate and maintain industrial fabric printing equipment and software to produce high-quality printed materials in accordance with production requirements. Interpret work orders, perform technical troubleshooting, adjust machine controls and ensure quality goods are printed per standards. This person will own the equipment functionality to ensure it is always running properly and efficiently.

Duties:
  • Operate Industrial Digital Direct to Fabric Printing and Drying Equipment (Kornit Presto Max), ensuring correct alignment, ink coverage, registration, ink adherence and color accuracy.
  • Review, prepare and load digital graphic files into software in accordance to work order requirements for production processing.
  • Process production work orders in a first-in/first-out order or as directed by the supervisor to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Collaborate with cross-function departments to clarify specifications or resolve any discrepancies of production work orders.
  • Inspect finished printed materials, using visual inspection, tools and equipment to ensure quality standards are met before moving onto next production process.
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly routine maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure optimal functionality and reduce production downtime.
  • Perform all other technical &/or mechanical maintenance as needed. Communicate directly with printer tech support to troubleshoot any issues unable to resolve on own.
  • Ensure accuracy of inventory management of raw materials based on work order requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to the company's 5S standards and reporting any hazards or equipment issues.
  • Lead printer operator assistant and train on maintenance functions.
  • Train existing and new employees, updating training records and developing standard work instructions in areas of expertise.
  • Share continuous improvement ideas to enhance safety, quality and productivity.
  • Perform additional duties assigned.
Skills:
  • MUST have maintenance aptitude and willingness to learn and troubleshoot. Engineering experience a plus.
  • Ability to react and problem-solve, sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills and a strong ability to work collaboratively across departments. A team player.
  • Proficiency in navigating computer systems to locate and prepare digital files for printing and adjusting settings to achieve correct output.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret detailed instructions and ensure precision in all work tasks.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Understands and follows safety protocols to prevent incident.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or Equivalent
  • Able to lift heavy objects (rolls of fabric) and stand for long periods of time.
  • Able and willing to climb above machine and crawl at bottom of machine for regular maintenance.
  • Previous experience operating and maintaining industrial printer equipment
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment a plus.

Minimum 3 year related experience, prefer at least 5 years.
