Job summary

MOO publishes compelling print and merchandise, with a strong focus on sustainable production. The Print Applications Specialist will own press front ends and color management, ensuring smooth data flow between manufacturing systems and the floor.

You will train operators and expand capabilities as new presses come online. You will work hands-on in East Providence, RI, collaborating with prepress, quality, and customer service teams to diagnose intermittent issues and implement robust processes

Qualifications

• PDF knowledge at the file level, not just the page level, including color spaces and separations.
• DFE and RIP literacy: understand how a front end processes a job and color management interactions.
• Hands-on color management experience: calibrating presses and building ICC profiles.
• Preflight, imposition, and relationship between artwork, sheet layout and finishing.
• Hands-on comfort with machines: running tests on a press or finishing unit.
• Methodical debugging of intermittent problems and verifying causes.
• Ability to teach others and work with non-technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Configure and support press front ends across our estate, including setup.
• Implement and uphold color standards on machines: calibration and ICC profiles.
• Own job submission and machine data: JDF/JMF tickets and status callbacks.
• Design and maintain hot folder architecture across output paths.
• Train and support users, write SOPs to enable others to run systems.
• Back up Prepress Technician when workflow needs more than configuration.
• Bring new presses into production and oversee EVT, DVT and PVT testing.
• Work hands-on across the production floor: wide format, finishing equipment, etc.
• Identify recurring problems and make them measurable and solvable.
