Job summary

Vanguard Group is seeking a Principal UX Designer to lead the Design Systems and Practices work. This hands-on leadership role focuses on creating reusable components, patterns, tokens, templates, and guidelines that scale across the Advisor Experience System (AXS).

Based in a hybrid setup with Malvern, PA or Charlotte, NC, you will guide design decisions, mentor teams, and partner closely with engineers to ensure accessibility and brand integrity across products and platforms.

Qualifications

• Significant UX design experience with design systems or scaled pattern ecosystems.
• Expertise in reusable system design: components, tokens, patterns, templates, and docs.
• Strong visual and interaction craft across typography, layout, and responsive behavior.
• Experience designing complex components with states, edge cases, and accessibility considerations.
• Proficiency with Figma and modern design-system workflows; collaboration with engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and evolution of the Advisor Experience System (AXS).
• Translate complex needs into reusable, accessible, scalable solutions.
• Own component and pattern architecture, including variants and responsive behavior.
• Set high quality standards for interaction, visual, and systems design across the library.
• Partner with front-end engineers to align design and code and resolve technical questions.
• Create documentation, usage guidance, and examples for designers and developers.
• Coach designers in component thinking, accessibility, and system standards.
