Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Roy, Utah, seeks a Principal Systems Safety Engineer to support the Sentinel program. This role requires a US Government Secret Clearance and will focus on system safety analyses, requirements, and safety documentation for defense systems.

You will collaborate across teams to mature architecture, define requirements, and develop safety artifacts such as SSPP, PHA, FHA, and SHA. A relocation option may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+ years related experience; 3 years with a Master’s; or 1 year with a PhD.
• Must be a US Citizen with an active US Government Secret Clearance at time of application with an investigation date within last 6 years.
• Must be able to obtain SAP approval within a reasonable period of time.
• Experience using MIL-STD-882E or similar processes for hardware/software design development.
• 1 year experience with C/C++, Java, OO design.
• Experience in software safety process (MIL-STD-882E, AOP 51, 91-710, JSSSEH).
• Knowledge of system safety principles to develop SSPP, PHA, FHA, SHA/SSHA.
• Familiarity with AGILE.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts.
• Work with technical teams and stakeholders to mature architecture content of large programs.
• Help develop and incorporate requirements for the system and ensure proper representation in the model.
• Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.
• Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes for model development, tool integration, and team integration.
• Experience generating or reviewing design artifacts to support System Safety analyses for safety and flight-worthiness of complex systems.
