Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer for our Woodland Hills, CA site. The role requires leading cross‑functional teams, managing baselines, and ensuring transition to production of complex hardware‑software systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong systems‑engineering background, experience delivering programs through CDR cycles, and proficiency with DOORS, CAMEO, and MATLAB. U.S.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in a STEM discipline with related systems engineering experience.
• Demonstrated systems engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or defense.
• Proficient with systems‑engineering tools such as DOORS, CAMEO, MATLAB, or comparable software.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; able to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of translating technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
• Collaborative team player with cross‑functional project experience.
• Meticulous attention to detail with commitment to high‑quality work.
• Agile and adaptable in fast‑paced environments.
• U.S. Citizenship required and active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of the technical baseline by capturing and finalizing functional and performance requirements.
• Develop functional and physical system architectures and conduct trade‑off studies.
• Organize and lead internal design reviews and facilitate external CDR sessions with customers and partners.
• Collaborate with integration and test teams on schedules; maintain ICDs and test matrices for HIL/SIL scenarios.
• Lead verification execution; analyze results, resolve discrepancies, and close verification loops.
• Manage baseline configuration items and conduct impact analyses for changes across verification and validation.
• Author and maintain CDR artifacts and produce status reports and executive presentations.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and promote cross‑functional knowledge sharing.
• Identify process inefficiencies and contribute to configuration‑management improvements.
• Position may be filled as Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer.
• Availability to work onsite full‑time in Woodland Hills, California.
