Job summary

Oracle Nashville is seeking a principal engineer to lead the design and implementation of scalable distributed systems. You will define scalability requirements and optimize data paths for high throughput, while applying load shedding and rate limiting to meet SLOs.

Establish KPIs, dashboards, and alerts, and mentor peers to ensure operational readiness and reliability. The role emphasizes security controls, automation via Infrastructure as Code, and change management for patching and rollbacks

Qualifications

• Experience designing scalable distributed systems and services.
• Ability to set scalability requirements and optimize data paths for high throughput.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve production issues in complex environments.
• Knowledge of security controls and compliance in multi-tenant cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of scalable distributed systems to support horizontal and vertical scaling.
• Optimize code and systems for large-scale data processing and high-throughput requirements.
• Design fault‑tolerant components with redundancy, replication, and auto failover.
• Build dashboards, telemetry, and alerting to monitor system health and reliability.
• Mentor peers and ensure operational readiness and incident response excellence.
