Overview

Principal System Administrator – responsible for system administration and maintenance of virtualized computer environments at Beale AFB, CA. Requires appropriate DoD clearance and experience with VMware, Hyperconverged Infrastructure, and network administration.

Responsibilities

• Administration of VMware ESXi servers.
• Maintaining Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux operating systems.
• Application and security patching.
• Account and permissions management using Microsoft Active Directory.
• Backup and restore using Rubrik Backup Solutions.
• Cybersecurity processes related to continuous monitoring.
• Deployment, update, and maintenance of hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI).
• Administration of HPE 3Par and Nimble storage solutions.
• Kubernetes administration – Rancher RKE2 distribution.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot network switches, firewalls, and routers.
• Monitor and analyze network performance and security using tools such as Wireshark and Splunk.
• Maintain and manage TCP/IP networks, including addressing, routing, and subnetting.
• Support the implementation and management of VPNs.
• Collaborate with network engineering teams for secure network integration.

Required Qualifications

• Active and transferable DoD Top Secret/SCI U.S. government‑issued security clearance (prior to start).
• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years.
• Active certification complying with NIST-8570 (e.g., Security+, CISSP).
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration experience.
• Windows 10/Server 2016 administration experience.
• Broadcom VMware – VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) expertise.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts – VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing protocols.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting network issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP clearance.
• Enterprise domain administration (Windows).
• Basic hardware configuration knowledge.
• Container deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, Helm).
• Automation with Ansible/Ansible Tower.
• Enterprise key management utilizing Utimaco ESKM.
• Cybersecurity tools (ACAS, HBSS, Splunk).
• ActiveMQ management and deployment.
• Scripting (Shell/bash).
• LDAP administration.
• TCP/IP and transfer protocol fundamentals.
• Experience with firewalls, load balancers, proxy servers.
• Ability to produce detailed technical documentation.
• Knowledge of Cross‑Domain Solutions (CDS).
• Teamwork under pressure to meet schedules.

Security Clearance & Availability

Applicants must hold an active DoD TS/SCI clearance and be eligible to obtain SAP clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a transferable government‑issued security clearance on day one.

Compensation

Salary range: 86,800 USD – 165,200 USD.
