Job summary

EXP is seeking a Principal Surveyor in Chicago to lead field and office surveying across highway, bridge, rail, airport and water resources projects. You will supervise survey crews, perform ALTA/ACSM, boundary, topographic surveys and prepare legal descriptions while growing our geomatics practice.

Ideal candidates have an IL PLS and 20+ years of experience, with the ability to work remotely and travel as needed. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microstation/Geopak and GIS is required.

Qualifications

• IL PLS license is required; multi-state licensure desirable.
• 20+ years surveying experience preferred.
• Willing to work remotely and travel as needed.
• Experience with ALTA/ACS M, boundary, topographic, and hydraulic surveys.
• Proficient in the preparation of plats and legal descriptions.

Responsibilities

• Perform surveys using traditional, GPS and HDS techniques.
• Draft ALTA/ACSM, boundary, topographic, right‑of‑way surveys.
• Prepare plats of acquisition and legal descriptions; conduct property research.
• Lead survey crews or support other crews as needed.
• Support construction engineering activities.
• Collaborate with EXP Sectors and geomatics practice groups.
• Participate in business development and marketing activities.
• Train other survey and field personnel.
• Fulfill other duties by VP - Construction Engineering.
