Job summary

CHASTAIN AND ASSOCIATES is seeking an experienced Land Surveyor to act as Survey Project Manager in Decatur, IL. You will oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking projects, guiding field crews from data collection to final deliverables.

The role requires 7+ years of U.S. surveying experience, an Illinois PLS license, and proficiency with Civil 3D and Trimble software. Relocation is considered for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Surveying/Geomatics/Civil Engineering is preferred.
• Illinois PLS license required; out-of-state licensure with reciprocity considered.
• Experience with boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction surveys is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
• Direct field crews—review data, check calculations, ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Prepare plats, legal descriptions, and easement documents per Illinois law.
• Serve as primary client contact for projects with agencies and title companies.
• Process field data and produce deliverables in Civil 3D and TBC.
