Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a Principal Security Architect to design, build, and enforce cybersecurity across the Terawave system, including spacecraft, ground stations, and cloud/edge infrastructure. You will secure onboard computers, firmware, inter-satellite links, and RF/optical transmissions, while guiding zero-trust architectures and risk analyses.

You will work closely with payload, flight software, ground systems, network engineering, silicon, and manufacturing teams to translate business

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field as listed
• 10+ years in threat modeling, cryptography, identity management and authentication, network security, and secure software development
• Deep understanding of embedded systems security (firmware, ASICs, FPGAs) and modern software engineering
• Deep understanding of Linux security features and defense strategies
• Ability to frame and close architectural trades with clear defensible outcomes
• Strong technical communication skills for leadership and domain specialists

Responsibilities

• Design and enforce cybersecurity architectures across the full system, including spacecraft and ground infrastructure
• Secure onboard satellite systems, firmware, inter-satellite links, and other bus components
• Protect RF/optical links against data manipulation and interception
• Establish zero-trust architectures and breach containment across system elements
• Perform threat modeling and risk analysis; establish security policies compliance
• Translate requirements into secure architectures including network segmentation and identity management
• Balance security with operational productivity and timelines
• Mentor engineering teams on security practices and review designs for security implications
• Collaborate across manufacturing, flight operations, payload, software, ground, network, and silicon teams
• Define security staffing needs and support hiring as the constellation scales
• Define security requirements for manufacturing and test processes
