Principal Software Engineer - Platform Security / Compliance Architect - (Remote)

Location: Multiple US locations or fully remote

Overview: At New Relic, we deliver real-time insights to our customers, enabling faster innovation. Our Cloud Platform group offers a scalable, secure, and extensible platform. We seek a Principal Software Engineer to lead compliance strategies, ensuring our platform adheres to industry regulations and security standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and own a comprehensive compliance strategy, aligning with industry standards and regulations.
2. Design and implement a security framework to safeguard sensitive data.
3. Collaborate with engineering, security, legal, and compliance teams to embed compliance into the development lifecycle.
4. Conduct compliance risk assessments and audits, addressing identified gaps.
5. Act as the primary contact for auditors, providing documentation and support.
6. Advise internal teams on compliance matters and stay updated on regulatory changes.
7. Train engineering teams on secure coding and compliance integration.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Several years of experience in compliance architecture or similar roles.
• Deep knowledge of frameworks like SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, FedRamp, ISO.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices.
• Proven experience designing compliance strategies in SaaS/cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Golang.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Availability for on-call duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as CISSP, CISA.
• Knowledge of risk management, vulnerability assessments, and identity management.
• Understanding of data governance frameworks.
