We are currently looking for a Confluent Kafka Expert who will be responsible for the architecture, implementation, and ongoing optimization of our Kafka-based systems. This role involves collaborating with various teams to drive Kafka strategy, resolve complex issues, and enhance the overall reliability and scalability of our data streaming infrastructure.

Your Day-to-Day at Sagent :

1. Design & Architecture: Lead the design and architecture of Kafka clusters and event-driven systems to handle high-throughput, low-latency, and scalable data streaming.
2. Kafka Cluster Management: Take ownership of Kafka cluster setup, scaling, monitoring, and optimization for fault tolerance and high availability.
3. Performance Tuning: Optimize Kafka clusters and improve throughput, latency, and message delivery reliability.
4. Advanced Troubleshooting and Production Support: Resolve complex Kafka-related issues and provide support in case of failures.
5. Kafka Integration: Guide integration of Kafka with external systems, including data lakes, relational databases, microservices, and real-time analytics platforms.
6. Capacity Planning: Assess system requirements, plan for future growth, and ensure Kafka infrastructure can scale without sacrificing performance.
7. Monitoring & Alerting: Implement monitoring, alerting, and reporting on Kafka clusters using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
8. Security & Compliance: Implement best practices for securing Kafka clusters, including SSL/TLS, SASL, ACLs, and data governance.
9. Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to align Kafka infrastructure with system architecture and operational needs.
10. Research & Innovation: Stay updated with Kafka and streaming tech advancements and propose improvements.

We'd love to hear from you if you have :

• 4-year degree + 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree + 2 years of experience, or equivalent experience.
• Expert knowledge of Confluent Kafka architecture, internals, and ecosystem.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka in production, including setup, configuration, management, tuning, and optimization.
• Proficiency with Kafka Streams API, Kafka Connect, Java, Python, and experience with real-time data streaming and event-driven architecture.
• Understanding of distributed systems principles, cloud deployments, data pipelines, DevOps tools, security, disaster recovery, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Confluent Schema Registry, KSQL, SQL/NoSQL databases, and stream processing tools like Apache Flink or Spark Streaming is a plus.
• Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data governance.
• Experience working with agile tools and methodologies. Mortgage/financial experience is a plus.

Travel will be 10-15% for this role.
