CloudBees is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for CloudBees CI in a hybrid Denver, CO environment. You will set technical direction, lead architecture, and stay hands-on with Java and Kubernetes to solve complex problems.

You will mentor engineers, drive milestones across teams, and uphold high standards in testing, performance, and reliability while aligning technical decisions with customer needs.

Formación

• 12+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including staff or principal scope.
• Deep Java expertise, JVM behavior, concurrency, memory management, and compatibility.
• Experience building and supporting distributed systems on Kubernetes in production.
• Strong distributed-systems knowledge and event-driven architectures.
• Track record of refactoring and improving codebases for performance or reliability.
• Hands-on coding with production-grade contributions and releases.
• Experience setting technical direction across teams and mentoring senior engineers.
• Understanding of CI/CD and developer workflows, linked to customer needs and product quality.
• Clear communication and influence across engineering, product, and leadership.

Responsabilidades

• Shape the technical direction for the CloudBees CI product area and translate it into working software.
• Lead architecture and execution across teams while staying close to the codebase.
• Define the technical roadmap with engineering and product partners, focusing on reliability and performance.
• Design resilient distributed systems on Kubernetes and document key tradeoffs.
• Write production-quality Java, drive refactors, performance improvements, and stability fixes.
• Diagnose JVM and distributed-system issues including memory leaks and thread contention.
• Advance plugin-based architectures while preserving compatibility and upgrade behavior.
• Mentor staff and senior engineers through design reviews and coding standards.
• Promote secure coding, automated tests, and robust release practices.
• Collaborate with support, product, and engineering to resolve complex customer issues.
