Job summary

CSAA Insurance Group (CSAA IG) is hiring a Principal Software Engineer focused on Emerging Technology and AI. This remote role supports the United States, with Hawaii and Alaska excluded.

You will prototype, evaluate, and scale AI-enabled solutions, mentor engineers, and shape enterprise architecture while partnering with multiple teams and vendors. The position requires 10+ years in software engineering, cloud-native AWS experience, and strong Java/Python/JavaScript skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, technology, or related field; 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Experience with cloud-native services (AWS) such as Lambda, DynamoDB, S3.
• Build, integration, and deployment tools (Jenkins, Maven).
• Programming languages and frameworks: Java/J2EE, Python, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, React.
• Certifications aligned to the technology stack are a plus.
• Willingness to travel as needed for the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership for Emerging Tech Labs and AI experimentation.
• Design rapid prototypes, PoCs, and pilots for new technologies.
• Evaluate APIs, cloud services, AI platforms, data sources, and patterns.
• Mentor engineers and guide architecture decisions across experiments.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and other teams to ensure standards and governance.
