Job summary

Apogee Research in Arlington, VA is seeking Principal Software Engineers to lead the development of capabilities for national security. This role spans ISR, EW, networking, cyber, and more, with hands-on design of complex software and mentoring of junior engineers.

The position is full-time in person at our Arlington, VA office. DoD Top Secret clearance is highly desirable; US citizens eligible to obtain clearance are required to apply.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building robust and maintainable software to solve algorithmically complex problems.
• High proficiency in C++.
• Thorough understanding of the fundamentals of computer and network security.
• Strong analytical and problem solving and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible and remain well organized in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on design and development of algorithmically complex software across languages from C++ to DSLs.
• Focus on addressing customer needs and delivering operational capabilities.
• Support demonstration and testing of software in lab and test events.
• Mentor junior team members to grow technical and program expertise.
• Create documentation and test suites to aid warfighters and co-contractors.
• Learn new technologies and develop novel approaches as needed.
