Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market, Inc. is seeking a data platform leader to drive technical objectives and roadmaps for a data-domain. You will guide cross-team engineering initiatives, overseeing ingestion, streaming, and feature-store capabilities from Phoenix with a hybrid schedule (in-office Tue–Thu).

The role emphasizes governance, lineage, quality, and data-contract practices, plus mentoring engineers and presenting architecture plans to leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data engineering experience with cross-team technical leadership.
• Advanced knowledge of Spark, Flink, Airflow, dbt, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience with Iceberg, Delta Lake, Hudi, or equivalent lakehouse technologies.
• Experience designing batch and streaming architectures using Kafka or equivalent.
• Experience with data governance, lineage, quality, and data-contract practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including architecture documentation.

Overview

Provide technical leadership across teams within an assigned data platform or data-product domain. Own technical objectives and roadmaps with a timeframe of at least one year, contribute technical input to department planning, and lead major data initiatives involving detailed analysis, work delegation, and review.

The role reports to our Store Support Office in Phoenix, AZ, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday.

Overview of Responsibilities

• Lead major and complex initiatives involving ingestion, transformation, streaming, serving, and feature-store capabilities.
• Develop and implement governance, lineage, quality, and data-contract standards for assigned platforms and related data domains.
• Present technical recommendations to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders and gain agreement on shared approaches.
• Lead lakehouse, data-product, and real-time decisioning initiatives within the assigned domain.
• Define resilient source-adapter patterns, including schema-drift quarantine, versioning, and replay after remediation.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to engineers and review work products for major initiatives.
