Sprouts Farmers Market, Inc. is seeking a data engineer to own design, delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of data domains and pipelines at our Store Support Office in Phoenix. This hybrid role requires in-office presence Tue–Thu to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

You will build batch and streaming pipelines, implement data contracts, quality controls, lineage, and observability, and mentor associate and intermediate engineers while guiding broader architectural decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with Spark, Flink, Airflow, dbt, Kafka, lakehouse formats, data quality, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, delivery, operation, and improvement of data domains and pipelines.
• Analyze and resolve complex data engineering issues.
• Build batch and streaming pipelines with data contracts, quality, lineage, and observability.
• Explain designs to engineers and data consumers to ensure shared understanding.

• Operate data products independently and seek governance guidance when needed.

Overview

Own the design, delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of assigned services or feature areas within the professional discipline. Deliver operational targets with significant impact on departmental results, resolve difficult problems through detailed analysis, and communicate technical information to ensure understanding across partner teams.

The role reports to our Store Support Office in Phoenix, AZ, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday.

Overview of Responsibilities

• Own the design, delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of assigned data domains, pipelines, and data products.
• Conduct detailed analysis and investigation to resolve difficult data engineering problems involving related systems or disciplines.
• Build batch and streaming pipelines and implement stable data contracts, quality controls, lineage, and observability.
• Explain technical designs and recommended changes to engineering and data consumers and ensure shared understanding.
• Provide technical guidance and training to associate and intermediate engineers; may delegate work and review work products.
• Operate assigned data products independently and seek leadership guidance for broader architectural or governance decisions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with Spark, Flink, Airflow, dbt, Kafka, lakehouse formats, data quality, and observability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with adjacent technical disciplines relevant to the assigned engineering area.
• Track record of providing training or technical guidance to other employees.
