Job summary

Papa John's is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead a product team, contribute to software design and development, and advance the product lifecycle. You will pair with engineers and architects, guide cross-team collaboration, and help evolve our software practices.

You will create foundational code, define software objectives, grow junior engineers, and drive reliability with automated tests, dashboards, and security reviews.

Responsibilities

• Build rapid prototypes aligned with product strategy and scale to production
• Identify and share reusable technical solutions across the company
• Address unsecured code areas and implement fixes
• Identify product enhancements to improve end-user experience
• Create architecture diagrams and documentation for security reviews
• Develop tooling for automated testing, monitoring, or deployment
• Define service level objectives and measure production reliability
• Write scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring, and tests
• Develop dashboards and alerts for proactive issue response
• Conduct technical interviews to evaluate candidate skills
• Field questions from product and support teams
• Monitor tools and encourage cross-team collaboration
• Provide production application support
• Monitor performance and capacity of code, infra, data, and messaging
• Collaborate with vendors/open source for feature enhancements
• Work with teams to create API specs and data contracts
• Triages high-priority issues and outages
