Job summary

SLR is seeking a senior environmental leader in Alaska to grow a broad portfolio and lead complex projects. You will oversee investigations, remediation strategies, and regulatory programs while mentoring a multidisciplinary team and managing budgets and schedules.

You will build trusted client relationships, identify new markets, and guide proposals, scoping, and pricing to drive growth in Arctic and remote environments.

Qualifications

  • 10 to 15+ years of environmental consulting with project, client, and staff leadership, Alaska preferred.
  • Strong technical background in soil, groundwater, vapor, sediment, and waste management.
  • Familiarity with CERCLA, TSCA, RCRA and Alaska regulations.
  • Proven success building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Experience leading business development, proposals, and client engagements.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and growth focus for a practice.
  • Alaska Civil or Environmental PE license or Registered Geologist preferred.
  • HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Relationships in industrial/real estate/energy sectors preferred.
  • Experience in Arctic/sub-Arctic or remote operating environments preferred.
  • Storm Water Plans and SPCC plan experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Grow and expand a portfolio of work through existing SLR relationships and networks.
  • Lead proposal development, project scoping, and pricing strategies.
  • Identify new opportunities, markets, and service offerings.
  • Serve as Principal-in-Charge or senior technical lead on complex environmental projects.
  • Provide strategic oversight for investigation, remediation, and regulatory programs.
  • Review technical deliverables including work plans, reports, studies, risk assessments, and designs.
  • Leverage SLR's global network to develop innovative, practical client solutions.
  • Promote technical quality, continuous improvement, and professional excellence.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a collaborative team; support staff development.
  • Help attract, recruit, and retain top talent; operate as seller-doer.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and overall performance.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and practice development; ensure high-quality client service.

Requirements
  • 10 to 15+ years of experience in environmental consulting, including project, client, and staff leadership; Alaska work preferred
  • Strong technical background in environmental investigation and remediation involving soil, groundwater, vapor, and sediment and associated waste management
  • Strong working knowledge of CERCLA, TSCA and RCRA and Alaska-specific environmental regulations, and familiarity with Alaska's regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining client relationships
  • Experience leading or supporting business development efforts, proposals, and client engagements
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for growing a practice
  • Passion for mentoring and developing others
  • Advanced degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental or Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • Alaska Civil or Environmental Professional Engineer license, Registered or Certified Geologist (preferred)
  • Hazardous waste management experience, particularly in industrial, environmental, or regulatory settings (a plus)
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification (preferred)
  • Existing relationships within industrial, real estate, energy, municipal, or redevelopment sectors (preferred)
  • Experience in Arctic, sub-Arctic, or remote operating environments (preferred)
  • Experience preparing Storm Water Pollution Plans and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plans (preferred)Experience working in highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams (preferred)
