Job summary

Jobtailor in Lombard, IL is seeking an Environmental Geologist to support Phase I and Phase II ESAs, remedial investigations, and data interpretation for regulatory compliance. You will prepare technical reports, health and safety plans, and collaborate with project teams.

Candidates should have a Geology degree (B.S. or M.S.), strong analytical writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with travel up to 75%. 40-Hour HAZWOPER is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in remedial activities addressing chemical impacts in air, water, soil, groundwater, and sediment.
  • Conduct Phase I ESAs or other environmental projects and due diligence.
  • Conduct Phase II ESAs and site investigations to determine constituents of concern.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data; prepare technical reports and health & safety plans.
  • Coordinate projects with project managers and collaborate with other professionals.
  • Travel regionally and locally for field work or training (up to 75%).

Job description

  • Participate in remedial activities at affected facilities, properties, or sites addressing chemical impacts in air, surface water, soil, soil vapor, groundwater, and/or sediment.
  • Conducting due diligence, Phase I ESAs or other environmental projects.
  • Conduct intrusive site investigations, Phase II ESAs, facility investigations, and remedial investigations of vapor, surface water, soil, groundwater, and/or sediment to determine the presence or absence, nature, and extent of constituents of concern.
  • Collect, and interpret data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations.
  • Compiling, evaluating, analyzing, and presenting/reporting subsurface investigation data and preparing technical reports.
  • Collaborate with other scientific and engineering professionals within the practice.
  • Coordinate each project with the project managers as necessary.
  • Preparation of health & safety plans, work plans, reports, and other technical documents under supervision.
  • Coordination and oversight of subcontractors, including health and safety management.
  • Travel may be required for the purpose of field work or training.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Geology
  • Professional experience in environmental consulting is preferred but not required
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred
  • Strong technical aptitude and technical writing ability
  • Ability to prioritize work and make responsible decisions
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and meet strict project deadlines.
  • Ability to travel regionally and locally as required for field work and project needs (up to 75%).
  • Ability to pass a background security check and drug screen.
  • Valid US driver’s license and good driving record.
