Job summary

SLR Consulting (Americas) in Anchorage, Alaska, is seeking an Associate Environmental Geologist/Engineer/Scientist to join our Alaska Land Quality and Remediation team. You will support contaminated site investigation, remediation, and regulatory projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary group.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in Engineering and have field experience; willingness to travel up to two weeks away from Anchorage and knowledge of Alaska regulations is a plus.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to review regulations and perform basic calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Collect groundwater, surface water, and soil samples.
  • Review State, Federal, and Local regulations for applicability to site cleanup.
  • Assist other SLR teams across disciplines (air monitoring, waste management, permitting, compliance).
  • Travel to client facilities for inspections and document reviews.
  • Work within quality, budget, and schedule expectations.

As our new Associate Environmental Geologist/Engineer/Scientist, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal. Role SLR International Corporation is seeking an Associate Environmental Geologist/Engineer/Scientist to join our Anchorage, Alaska operations. The candidate selected for this role will work within our Alaska Land Quality and Remediation Technical Discipline, assisting with a variety of functions related to contaminated site investigation and remediation. Preferable candidates will have experience in consulting and/or industry, preferably focused on Alaska projects. Positions in the Anchorage office also provide great opportunities for growth and gaining broad experience in site investigation and cleanup, environmental permitting and compliance, and air quality.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with clients from a variety of industries
  • Collect groundwater, surface water, and soil samples
  • Review State, Federal, and Local regulations for applicability to site cleanup

Benefits & Compensation:
  • Competitive total compensation package including comprehensive benefits, vacation, and a suite of wellness initiatives.
  • The salary range for this position is $80,000.00 -.$95,000.00.
  • Full-time, permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
Qualifications/Education/Memberships:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to solve basic calculations and unit conversions
  • Experience presenting analytical results in tabular and graphical forms
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
  • Willing to commit to field assignments of up to two weeks away from Anchorage
  • Possess valid driver’s license
Preferred Technical Skills and Experience:
  • PFAS remediation
  • MS Degree in Geology, Engineering, or Environmental Science
  • Groundwater, surface water, and soil sampling experience
  • Skill/experience conducting hazardous materials surveys and sampling.
  • Experience in technical writing
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • Understanding of industrial operations and equipment, large and small
  • Knowledge of Alaska environmental regulations
