Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Principal Robotics Systems Engineer based in Boston, MA. You will lead all aspects of systems engineering for a complex surgical robotic platform, ensuring cohesive hardware, software, and clinical workflows.

You will drive requirements flow-down, MBSE usage, and safety-critical design controls in alignment with FDA and ISO standards. You will collaborate with hardware, software, controls, clinical, and quality teams, manage risk, and contribute to regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems/Mechatronics or related field.
• 8+ years in multidisciplinary systems engineering, preferably in medical devices.
• Experience with regulatory standards (FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485).

Responsibilities

• Define system architecture and decompose into testable requirements.
• Ensure end-to-end lifecycle traceability from user needs to verification.
• Lead cross-functional teams across hardware, software, and clinical domains.
• Interface with regulatory affairs and quality teams for submissions and inspections.
• Support design transfer and product launch activities.
