Job summary

Simbe is seeking a Principal or Staff Robotics Perception Engineer to bridge computer vision and robot software, owning perception pipelines for Tally robots and translating CV capabilities into reliable navigation and localization. Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in robotic perception, CV, ML, autonomous systems or related production robotics work.
• Strong proficiency in Python and C++ in Linux environments.
• Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2, sensor pipelines, and deployed robotics systems.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, TensorRT, CUDA, or similar tools.
• Experience deploying real-time AI models on embedded/hardware constrained platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own production perception pipelines: design, evaluate, integrate, and optimize perception systems used by Tally robots (detection, segmentation, depth, tracking, sensor fusion, localization, calibration).
• Bridge CV and robot autonomy: integrate perception models into robot codebase to improve navigation and localization.
• Improve real-time performance: profile and optimize neural networks on current/next-gen hardware using Python, C++, CUDA, and embedded GPUs.
• Advance robot perception R&D: explore SLAM, odometry, depth estimation, multimodal perception and simulators for practical gains.
• Develop system benchmarks: define metrics linking model quality to robot outcomes (latency, uptime, localization robustness, false positives/negatives).
• Debug field failures end-to-end using logs, imagery, telemetry, and model outputs to diagnose perception and autonomy issues in stores.
• Shape technical direction: provide leadership, code reviews, architecture guidance, and mentorship at AI/robotics intersection.
