Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced RF/Digital Test Engineer (Level 3 or 4) in Baltimore, MD. This role focuses on production testing of digital, RF and power hardware, with hands-on bench debugging, automated tests, and data-driven failure analysis.

Applicants must hold a DoD Secret clearance, be a U.S. citizen, and have 5+ years (or 3+ years with a Master’s) in relevant testing. The position offers growth in a fast-paced environment with collaboration across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in a lab or production environment with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, vector network analyzers, signal generators, and DC power supplies.
• Current/active DoD Secret Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Execute and troubleshoot automated test procedures covering: DC power-on and current checks; programming and JTAG/boundary-scan tests; digital bus and control interface tests; RF gain, noise figure, and intermodulation measurements.
• Perform hands-on debugging using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, vector network analyzers, signal generators, and DMMs.
• Troubleshoot end-to-end RF and IF chains using schematics and block diagrams; identify issues in filters, amplifiers, switches, mixers, attenuators, and protection devices.
• Work with digital and embedded aspects of the design; support JTAG-based programming and device verification; verify control buses and BIT indicators.
• Apply structured troubleshooting methods; use golden/reference units, A/B comparisons, and targeted components swaps to bring units within specification.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering; provide data-driven input on failure trends and help refine test limits and procedures.
