Job summary

Lunar Outpost is seeking a Principal RF Engineer to lead RF system design and testing for space-grade communications and rover systems. You will oversee electromagnetic simulations, RF subsystem integration, and rigorous verification against mission requirements.

Lead cross-disciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and ensure on-time delivery within a dynamic startup culture. Strong publications and documentation will be valued as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of RF systems and ability to design, analyze, and test complex RF architectures.
• Proven hands-on experience architecting RF systems and test racks.
• Ability to define, execute, and document RF tests against requirements.
• Experience drafting detailed test plans, managing schedules, and coordinating resources in regulated environments.
• Proficiency with RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, VNAs, signal generators, and power meters.
• Minimum of 12 years of RF engineering experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to produce detailed docs.

Responsibilities

• Lead RF system design and technical leadership across programs.
• Perform electromagnetic simulations and RF analysis for satellite and rover applications.
• Design, develop, and integrate RF subsystems with Ka-, S-, and X-band emphasis.
• Build, test, and integrate RF hardware including antennas and payload comms subsystems.
• Develop RF test plans and simulations (VSWR, gain, radiation patterns).
• Create link budgets for space-to-Earth communications and analyze interference.
