Job summary

RTX BBN Technologies in Middletown, RI is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with eight or more years of experience in real-time embedded C development. You will work on Linux and VxWorks RTOS platforms, integrating with hardware and developing high-performance embedded software for DoD systems.

The role requires active DoD Secret clearance on day one and a strong background in RTOS, signal processing, and optimization. Onsite work and travel up to 15% are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM field and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Active and transferable Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance on day one.
• Experience with embedded C/C++ and RTOS in high-performance systems.
• Experience integrating hardware, firmware, and software.
• Proficiency across RTOS (VxWorks, Linux, Green Hills).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-performance embedded real-time software for DoD systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test and analyze performance.
• Integrate components into larger systems for real-world testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews.
