Mott MacDonald, based in Florida, seeks an experienced Principal Project Manager to lead large infrastructure transportation projects in Tampa, Orlando, or Jacksonville. You will coordinate with a team of engineers on major projects across the region, guiding design, scheduling, and budget management.

The role requires a PE license in Florida and 15+ years of highway design experience, with strong client communication and mentorship capabilities.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with FDOT practices, standards and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Leads roadway design and projects in construction in Florida.

• Develops project plans, scopes and budgets.
• Manages project timelines and budgets.
• Provides technical guidance to junior engineers and team members.
• Designs roadway geometrics, intersections and related features.
• Performs engineering analyses and calculations.

Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced Principal Project Manager with a focus on large infrastructure transportation projects, to be based in Florida – most specifically Tampa, Orlando, or Jacksonville. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with our existing talented engineers on some of the largest projects locally and across the country. You’ll often work across multiple projects varying in size and complexity.

Responsibilities

• Leads and manages roadway design and projects that are in construction in Florida and some southeastern states.
• Review, position and pursue projects for FDOT Districts, counties and associated agencies.
• Develops project plans, scopes, and budgets.
• Manages project timelines and ensures projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Provides technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members.
• Designs and plans roadway geometrics, intersections, and other related features.
• Performs engineering analyses and calculations.
• Ensures projects comply with relevant standards, regulations, and codes.
• Supervises and mentors junior engineers and technicians.
• Delegates tasks and responsibilities effectively.
• Provides feedback and coaching to team members.
• Communicates effectively with clients, stakeholders, and other parties involved in the project.
• Represents the project team and company to external parties.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida.
• At least 15+ years experience in highway design and local streets.
• Familiarity with Florida Department of Transportation engineering practices, standards and documentation.
• Good decision‑making skills, flexibility, focus on quality and attention to detail.
• Interact and communicate effectively with design team members, clients and other agencies.
• Ability to coordinate the work on various project design tasks.
• Proficient technical experience with Microstation, Bentley ORD, and Microsoft Office software.
