Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Field Inspector to support multiple projects across North America. The role involves inspection, testing, documentation, and reporting on-site and in-office as required. You will read plans, compute quantities, and ensure compliance with contracts.

Required two years of experience and relevant CTQP certifications, plus a valid driver’s license; lifting up to 50 lbs is expected. The firm emphasizes a hybrid work approach and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with ability to obtain above qualifications within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Travel to project sites to conduct inspection and testing.
• Following standard procedures and specifications for documentation and inspection of construction activities.
• Reading, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
• Daily calculating, reporting, documenting, and communicating verbally and in writing.
• Computing quantities for concrete, asphalt, steel, earthwork, drainage structures, and traffic control devices.
• Operating company vehicle, computer, and testing equipment.
• Reporting construction progress and issues with engineers, contractors, utilities, and government officials to Senior Field and Administrative personnel.
• Documenting field changes and as-built plans.
• Documenting daily diaries and material test reports.
• Working in an office or outdoor environment in varying weather conditions as required by the project type.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, or a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution and ability to obtain the above qualifications in a reasonable amount of time.
• Two (2) years of experience in construction or construction inspection, preferably on FDOT roadway or bridge projects.
• Must be able to obtain the following certifications as required by the projects scope of work. Qualifications/certifications for this position may be obtained within six (6) months from the date of hire:
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • FDOT Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
  • CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • FDEP Stormwater Erosion & Sedimentation Control Inspector
  • Preferred:
    • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level II
    • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
    • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level II
    • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
    • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign, lighting, and traffic signal structure foundations)
    • Nuclear Radiation Safety
    • Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
