About the opportunity SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Principal Project Manager to support energy projects primarily in the Midwest and central / eastern U.S and also in other geographies including the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. We are seeking a candidate who is looking to develop or continue a long-term consulting career that combines high-level technical expertise, with project leadership and management of multidiscipline teams delivering for clients across several business lines and geographies. The successful candidate will oversee small to complex projects and will maintain high-quality scientific and technical work to ensure alignment with SWCA's goals and objectives. This is a permanent, salaried, full-time, regular position reporting to SWCA's Chicago office as a remote employee. Preference will be given to candidates located in Ohio. What you will accomplish Lead, oversee, and execute the management of permitting efforts for transmissionprojectsof all sizes and levels of complexity. Directly provide and lead others in providing environmental compliance services in conformance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act (CWA), the Endangered Species Act (ESA), and a host of other federal and state regulatory statutes. Manage or contribute to the execution of large, strategic, or multidisciplinary projects. Mentor and supervise staff. Promote a culture of teamwork, engagement, quality service, and customer satisfaction. Assist with internal strategy in alignment with overall regional and corporate growth plans for the region. Drive compliance of safety policies and reporting requirements to ensure overall team safety. Enhance SWCA’s professional reputation and demonstrate the ability to be creative and innovative with these tasks while representing SWCA in a professional manner. Work closely with other key individuals throughout SWCA to promote our business interests in adherence with the company’s mission, vision, and values. Enhance SWCA’s relationship with Midwestern and Southeastern utilities including but not limited to; AES, AEP, FirstEnergy, and Duke Energy. Experience and qualifications for success Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, including managing fieldwork, report development, QA / QC, project scheduling, and budgeting. Proven experience overseeing complex, large-scale electric transmission projects. Demonstrated success in business development and strategic consulting, with strong credibility among federal and state regulatory agencies and key clients. Extensive permitting experience, having led environmental permitting for at least 100 transmission line projects across diverse geographic regions.
