Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Product Manager to shape the multi-year strategy for Akamai Cloud developer tooling and platforms. You will lead vision, roadmap, and execution for APIs, SDKs, and AI-enabled workflows across the cloud platform.

You will collaborate with engineering on API design, governance, and OpenAPI standards while modernizing enterprise API paths and driving a unified Developer Experience across Akamai products.

Qualifications

• 15 years of relevant product management experience or equivalent.
• Experience designing REST, gRPC, or GraphQL APIs and delivering developer tools like CLIs, SDKs, and Terraform providers.
• Expertise in API gateway architectures, traffic management, and OAuth2/mTLS authentication.
• Proven track record evolving mature developer platforms and managing breaking-change lifecycles.
• Familiarity with LLM function calling, AI agent frameworks, and Model Context Protocol.
• Knowledge of open-source developer ecosystems and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Craft the multi-year vision, strategy, and roadmap for Akamai Cloud developer tooling.
• Modernize brownfield API paths while elevating API quality and platform performance.
• Pioneer AI-first developer interfaces and LLM-driven workflows using Model Context Protocol endpoints.
• Collaborate with engineering on API design guidelines, OpenAPI standards, schema governance, and API Gateway capabilities.
• Oversee development of official developer tools including CLI, SDKs, and Infrastructure as Code providers.
• Influence and unify the Developer Experience across platforms for consistency and efficiency.
