Job summary

Akamai seeks a Principal Product Manager to shape the multi-year vision for Akamai Cloud developer tooling and API platforms. You will lead strategy and execution, collaborating with engineering to define APIs, tools, and workflows that empower developers.

You will modernize API paths, design AI-first interfaces, and drive high-impact developer experiences across the Akamai Cloud platform, ensuring consistency and performance.

Qualifications

• 15 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience designing REST, gRPC, or GraphQL APIs and delivering developer tools like CLIs, SDKs, and Terraform providers.
• Solid expertise in API gateway architectures, traffic management, and authentication protocols such as OAuth2 and mTLS.
• Proven track record evolving mature developer platforms and managing breaking-change lifecycles without disrupting workloads.
• Familiar with LLM function calling, AI agent frameworks, and emerging protocols like Model Context Protocol.
• Knowledge of open-source developer ecosystems, IaC automation communities, and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Crafting multi-year vision, strategy, and execution roadmap for Akamai Cloud developer tooling.
• Modernizing enterprise API paths while elevating API quality, consistency, and platform performance.
• Pioneering next-generation developer interfaces for AI agents and LLM-driven workflows.
• Collaborating with engineering on API design guidelines, OpenAPI standards, schema governance, and API Gateway capabilities.
• Overseeing product development for official developer tools including CLI, SDKs, and Infrastructure as Code providers.
• Influencing strategy to unify Developer Experience across platforms for consistency and efficiency.
