Job summary

Elastic is seeking a Principal Product Manager II to lead the strategy and roadmap for embedding, reranking, and vector database capabilities. You will shape the direction of vector indexing, hybrid retrieval, and scalable AI features across the platform, collaborating with engineering and research teams to meet enterprise needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 8+ years in product management, with significant time on technical infrastructure, databases, search, or ML/AI platforms.
• Good working knowledge of vector search fundamentals, embeddings, ANN indexing, similarity metrics, and trade-offs between recall and latency.
• Working knowledge of generative models, model fine tuning, model capabilities and document processing for large corpus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy and roadmap for Elastic's embedding/reranking and vector database capabilities.
• Guide direction for technologies like vector indexing and hybrid retrieval.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product strategy with business goals.
• Establish long-term product goals and milestones for vector use cases and document AI and unstructured data management.
• Define and defend key metrics: recall, latency, index size, ingestion throughput, total cost of ownership.
