Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the strategy and roadmap for embedding, reranking, and vector database capabilities. You will drive decisions on vector indexing and hybrid retrieval while partnering with engineering and research teams to ship scalable developer-focused products.

You will guide cross-functional efforts, set multi-quarter roadmaps, and own success metrics such as recall and latency, ensuring Elastic AI and Vector offerings stay

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years in product management with infrastructure, databases, search, or ML/AI platforms.
• Strong knowledge of vector search fundamentals and hybrid retrieval.
• Experience shipping developer- or infrastructure-facing products at scale.
• Ability to work with engineers on technical topics without being a researcher.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and roadmap for vector database and core search use cases.
• Lead embedding/reranking and vector indexing initiatives across teams.
• Collaborate with engineering and research to balance features with feasibility.
• Establish long-term goals, milestones, and alignment with stakeholders.
• Define metrics (recall, latency, index size, throughput, TCO) and defend trade-offs.
• Coordinate roadmap assumptions and communicate updates to executives.
