Job summary

Precision Talent Partners is seeking a Principal Engineer for EHS Division & Process Safety in Southern Tier, NY. The role focuses on front-end safety considerations, enabling safer design and scale‑up of new materials and processes.

You will work with scientists, engineers, and project teams to integrate EHS into early-stage development, lead risk analyses, and influence project decisions before manufacturing begins. A strong technical background in process safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Physical Sciences, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of manufacturing and/or engineering experience.
• Experience leading or participating in risk assessments, hazard reviews, PHA, or similar technical safety reviews.
• Ability to evaluate technical processes, chemistry, equipment, regulations, and standards from a risk perspective.
• Experience with incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Ability to translate complex technical and EHS requirements into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with scientists, engineers, technical teams, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Identify EHS considerations with new materials, processes, equipment, and scale-up.
• Participate in Management of Change and process hazard review activities.
• Provide technical EHS expertise during project meetings, design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering decisions.
• Lead, facilitate, and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and other risk assessments.
• Research processes, chemistry, equipment, regulations, and industry standards to evaluate EHS risks.
• Recommend safety safeguards and administrative controls considering schedule and budget.
• Collaborate with industrial hygiene and environmental specialists on chemical evaluations and regulatory implications.
• Lead and support incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and system improvements.
• Deliver technical EHS training and translate requirements into practical guidance for teams.
• Support Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements for covered processes.
• Transfer critical safety knowledge as projects transition to manufacturing.
