Job summary

AppGate is seeking a Senior, Staff, or Principal Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain the software that integrates AppGate services with the underlying operating system. You will work across Python applications, systemd/journald integration, Linux namespaces, and PostgreSQL observability in a production-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Significant software/platform engineering experience; Senior 5+ years, Staff 8+ years, Principal 12+ years.
• Expert Python production-grade coding.
• Programmatic Linux integration and OS automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain reliable Python services and libraries for AppGate ZTNA platform.
• Manage Linux processes, namespaces, permissions, resources and OS primitives.
• Design and maintain systemd units, service dependencies and lifecycle management.
• Instrument applications with OpenTelemetry; collect metrics, logs and traces.
• Establish observability practices and debugging standards across the platform.
• Develop and troubleshoot services involving TCP/IP, TLS, routing, firewalls and network namespaces.
• Develop tooling to provision, configure, upgrade, and operate distributed PostgreSQL databases.
• Improve internal tooling and release pipelines for reliability and usability.
• Apply testing, fault-handling, security practices in production workloads.
• Contribute to architecture and standards for Linux platform development.
• Lead cross-team initiatives; perform code reviews and mentor engineers.
• Communicate architecture and updates via documentation in a distributed remote environment.
