Job summary

Pearson is seeking a principal-level engineer to lead the modernization of our content platform and drive large-scale migrations and shared capabilities. You will design target systems, own critical paths, and mentor engineers across teams while ensuring security and reliability at scale.

Role spans full stack responsibilities with Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, TypeScript, React, and AWS services. Expect collaboration with product, architecture, and leadership to deliver scalable platform services.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building and operating production software.
• 4+ years at staff or principal level, or as technical lead across several teams.
• Led a re-platforming or legacy migration of a production system with active users and data.

Responsibilities

• Write production code where the risk is highest and review the hardest changes.
• Unblock hard technical problems spanning systems, teams, or domains.
• Work with engineering managers, product managers, architects, and quality engineers to balance tradeoffs.
• Collaborate with users across Pearson's lines of business to separate foundational problems from incremental ones.
• Spot cross-team opportunities and drive initiatives from exploration to launch.
