Job summary

Pearson is seeking a senior staff engineer to lead modernization of its content platform, shaping target architectures and migrating large-scale content and data. You will design systems, write production code, and mentor engineers across multiple teams, balancing speed, safety, and long-term maintainability.

You will own technical roadmaps, enforce shared standards, and drive AI-enabled workflows with a strong focus on reliability, security, and scalable APIs in a production AWS environment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building and operating production software.
• 4+ years at staff or principal level or as a technical lead across multiple teams.
• Led a re-platforming or legacy migration of a production system.
• Full-stack depth: Java/Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, React with MongoDB and Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical plan and delivery for multiple tracks from design through launch.
• Migrate large volumes of content and data with verification that nothing is lost or broken.
• Build shared capabilities exposed through clean APIs.
• Review and unblock hard technical problems spanning teams or domains.
• Collaborate with managers, architects, and QA to ensure successful delivery.
