Job summary

Raytheon seeks a Principal Platform Engineer to join the Missile Defense Sensors Software Department. You will design and maintain platform architecture, drive secure CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate across software, systems, and test teams for mission-critical radar/C2 systems.

You will lead automation, DevSecOps, and infrastructure-as-code initiatives in a fast-paced defense environment, with onsite work in MA. A U.S. citizen with clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8+ years of experience.
• Expertise in Linux platform engineering and administration.
• Experience leading mission-critical platform and DevSecOps environments for real-time systems.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible and virtualization tools.
• Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python, Bash and/or PowerShell.
• Experience with CI/CD systems and secure build/deploy architectures.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and maintenance of platform architecture and modernization strategies.
• Architect and manage advanced tools and frameworks for secure CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of application software.
• Drive optimization of platform performance, reliability, and scalability for defense programs.
• Architect and maintain secure computing environments following cybersecurity best practices.
• Lead system-level integration, troubleshooting, and debugging of platform issues.
• Champion platform automation and monitoring with Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes.
• Provide Agile/Scrum/Kanban leadership and technical execution.
• Represent the platform engineering discipline in design reviews and customer meetings.
• Establish platform engineering standards and promote Infrastructure-as-Code and DevSecOps maturity.
• Mentor junior and senior engineers and share knowledge across the team.
