Job summary

Toole Design is seeking a Principal Planner for our Silver Spring, MD office to lead multimodal transportation projects and mentor planners within a collaborative, growth‑oriented team.

You will bring 15+ years of transportation planning experience, strong leadership, and a proven track record delivering complex public‑sector projects while advancing inclusive design and community engagement. Salary range: $120k–$145k; hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in urban planning, transportation planning or related field; AICP preferred.
• Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills.
• 15+ years of transportation planning experience in the Mid-Atlantic (DMV) region.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams on complex multimodal transportation projects with strategic oversight.
• Supervise and mentor planners in the Silver Spring office, manage workload and staff utilization.
• Engage with a broad range of stakeholders to build momentum towards positive community change.
