Job summary

Blue Shield of California is seeking a Pharmacist, Principal to lead development of drug reviews and support formulary decision making. You will evaluate clinical evidence, pharmacoeconomic data, and budget impact, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to advance cost-effective formulary strategies.

Qualifications

• PharmD degree is required.
• Active California RPh license in good standing required.
• Minimum 4 years of clinical pharmacy experience required.
• Experience in a managed care setting with direct client/provider interface.
• Demonstrated leadership and strong clinical knowledge of drugs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate formulary development and provide P&T clinical support based on scientific evidence.
• Collaborate to develop pharmacoeconomic analyses and recommendations for cost-effective formulary management.
• Develop and analyze prescription drug and medical claims data to improve quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Regularly assess medical evidence to support appropriate medication use.
• Support value-based formulary design and enhancements to P&T processes.
• Prepare client-facing summaries, supporting documentation, and reports communicating clinical value.
• Conduct retrospective data analyses and cost analyses to support formulary decisions.
• Present at formulary meetings and drug utilization review meetings.
• Work independently and with multidisciplinary teams with minimal oversight.
