Job summary

Join Akamai's Network Infrastructure SRE team as a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network. You will help design, build, and manage fast, scalable routing infrastructure powering Akamai Connected Cloud.

Collaborate across software, operations, and compute stakeholders to set standards and tooling for growth and stability. You will architect and mentor, drive architectural decisions, develop automation (Bash, Python, Slack bots), and define SLOs to ensure high availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years in Site/Network Reliability, Network or DevOps roles.
• Strong TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing and firewall knowledge.
• Experience with configuration management and Linux networking.
• Proficient in scripting (Python, Bash, Go or Rust) and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build and support scalable network solutions.
• Mentor team members and drive code quality and architectures.
• Collaborate across dev, ops and stakeholders on standards and docs.
• Develop automation tools and integrate with deployments.
• Define SLOs for Akamai Connected Cloud network infra and ensure high availability.
• Participate in on-call rotations and troubleshoot complex network issues.
