Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to enhance the reliability, performance, and scalability of its Compute products and platforms.

You will tackle issues across Linux, networking, and distributed services, and build automation to reduce toil and accelerate incident response. You will apply AI-assisted tooling, improve monitoring and SLIs/SLOs, and collaborate with engineering teams to improve design and deployment safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience supporting large-scale distributed systems.
• Linux and networking knowledge (routing, DNS, firewalls, TCP/IP, L7 traffic management).
• Proficient in Python or Go.
• Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK/OpenSearch or similar).
• Experience with infrastructure automation/configuration tools (Terraform, Ansible, Salt).
• Familiar with Docker/Podman and orchestration (Kubernetes or Nomad).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting complex issues across Linux systems, networking, and distributed services.
• Building software and automation to reduce toil and improve efficiency.
• Developing AI-assisted tooling to accelerate incident investigation and reliability.
• Using data analysis and diagnostics to identify performance improvements.
• Establishing and improving monitoring, SLIs, and SLOs for critical services.
• Contributing to root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
• Partnering with Engineering teams to improve system design and operational readiness.
• Participating in on-call rotation and leading incident response.
