Job Overview

Position: Principal Network Engineer / Sr. Principal Network Engineer at Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector, located in Melbourne, FL. The role may be filled at Principal or Sr. Principal level based on qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrate technical skills, organization, effective communication and problem solving. Maintain a commitment to ethics and integrity, and exhibit innovation. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and collaborate across the program. Provide solutions to technical problems of increasing scope and complexity and have work reviewed for sound technical judgment and overall adequacy under general supervision.

Basic Qualifications

• Principal Level (T03): Bachelor in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related professional or military engineering experience, OR Master with 3 years, OR Ph.D. with 1 year.
• Sr. Principal Level (T04): Bachelor in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related professional or military engineering experience, OR Master with 6 years, OR Ph.D. with 4 years.
• Active, in‑scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher that has been granted or renewed within the past 6 years.
• Familiarity with AGILE processes and SCRUM tools (JIRA, Confluence).
• Experience with Windows and Linux configuration and troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

• DODD 8570 certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar network/security certifications.
• Professional networking certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE) or equivalent.
• Experience with authentication and data encryption methods, including securing communications at datalink or network layer.
• Experience with embedded systems, Unix and Linux operating systems, single‑board computers, servers, and NAS solutions.
• Experience with non‑Cisco networking environments (Juniper, Palo Alto).
• Experience with virtualization environments.
• Knowledge of cyber security and Risk Management Framework (RMF), STIGs and associated elements.
• Experience with network management applications such as Splunk, Firepower Management Center (FMC), and/or Cisco ISE.
• Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.
• Experience with tactical/military radio networks (Common Data Link (CDL), ANW2).
• Experience performing troubleshooting with traffic capture tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, nmap, netcat).

Compensation and Benefits

Primary Level salary range: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00.
Secondary Level salary range: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00.
The salary range is a general guideline; final offer depends on scope, responsibilities, education, experience, and market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and annual bonus. Benefits include health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off for vacation or personal business.
