Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Principal or Senior Principal MS&A Engineer in Woodland Hills, CA, to lead physics-based modeling, simulation, and data analysis for inertial navigation products. You will develop high-fidelity models, run Monte Carlo analyses, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure robust system performance from concept to production.

The role requires strong skills in MATLAB/Simulink and Python, experience with sensor data (IMU logs, flight tests), and a U.S.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis for complex systems.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and Python (or comparable environments).
• Experience processing and analyzing sensor or navigation data sets (e.g., IMU logs, flight test data).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to interpret complex data for design decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain physics-based models and simulations of inertial navigation systems.
• Perform Monte Carlo analyses and trade studies to assess performance and margins.
• Analyze lab, flight, and field test data to validate models and identify discrepancies.
• Provide model-based performance predictions and risk reduction rationale.
• Create and maintain simulation frameworks and toolchains (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++).
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software teams to enable HIL/SIL integration.
