Job summary

Veracyte is seeking a Principal Bioinformatics Scientist to lead the MRD assay bioinformatics strategy and development. You will own analytics from concept to validation, shaping assay architecture and data interpretation in collaboration with wet-lab, clinical, and software teams.

The role requires PhD-level expertise, 8+ years in biotech or regulated settings, and strong Python skills to build scalable pipelines, with leadership responsibilities and a track record in design-controlled

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Biostatistics, or a closely related quantitative field.
Minimum 8 years of total relevant experience, with at least 5 years in biotech/diagnostics/regulatory settings.
Demonstrated experience leading NGS-based assay development for clinical diagnostics including ctDNA MRD assays.
Strong Python programming and production-grade pipeline development experience.
Experience in design-controlled, regulated environments (CAP/CLIA LDT, IVD).

Responsibilities

Lead bioinformatics strategy for MRD assays under CAP/CLIA quality systems.
Own assay bioinformatics from concept through validation and launch.
Develop scalable, production-ready MRD analysis pipelines with QC and reporting.
Collaborate with wet-lab, clinical, QA/RA, and software teams across the lifecycle.
Mentor junior scientists and communicate complex analyses to diverse stakeholders.
