Job summary

PubMatic seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead backend development for mobile app monetization, building high-performance, low-latency, privacy-conscious systems that maximize publisher revenue across in-app inventory.

You will work on SSP-DSP workflows, OpenRTB signals, SDK integrations, and real-time auction/decisioning optimizations, collaborating with Product, Data Science and SRE to improve yield and latency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in mobile ad-tech, SSP/DSP or related fields.
• Strong understanding of mobile app advertising workflows and privacy constraints.
• Experience building real-time auction, targeting and optimization systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable backend services powering mobile app monetization.
• Improve SSP-DSP integration workflows and privacy-aware processing.
• Design traffic shaping and QPS optimization for high-value inventory.
• Enhance runtime support for multiple mobile ad formats (rewarded, interstitial, native, banner, app-open).
• Collaborate with product, data science, and SRE to ensure reliability and observability.
• Develop diagnostics for supply quality, attribution readiness, and fraud indicators.
• Partner with SDK/OpenBid teams to define signal-quality standards and tracking requirements.
• Provide publisher- and buyer-facing diagnostics and incident response.
