Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Aurora, CO seeks a Principal Engineer Mechanical to lead CAD-based design, BOM management and tolerancing control. You will collaborate with systems, electrical, manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure design intent and manufacturability for complex aerospace hardware.

The role requires a TS clearance, 5+ years in engineering or a Master’s with 3+ years, and hands-on experience with Creo/NX/SolidWorks/CATIA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience, or Master’s with 3 years.
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance required.
• Experience with CAD design and modeling using Creo, NX, SolidWorks or CATIA.
• Experience creating BOMs for mechanical assemblies and engineering drawings with GD&T.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, model, and update mechanical designs using CAD tools.
• Create and maintain BOMs for parts and assemblies.
• Review requirements for mechanical impact and derive mechanical requirements.
• Produce engineering drawings with dimensions, tolerances, and notes.
• Collaborate with systems, electrical, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
• Participate in design reviews, drawing checks, and configuration control.
• Support troubleshooting during build, integration, and test.
• Document work products per procedures and support CAD configuration management.
