Job summary

McCarl's Technical Services seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer & Team Lead to guide a team of mechanical and process engineers on heavy industrial projects across power, chemical, metals, and oil & gas sectors.

You will provide technical leadership, project oversight, and mentorship to ensure deliverables meet standards, schedule, cost, and quality objectives while advancing the department through training and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and 10+ years in heavy industry design.
• Professional Engineer license is preferred.
• Knowledge of design codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, API, ASHRAE).
• Experience developing engineering procedures, specifications, and design standards.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage creation, review, and approval of engineering deliverables.
• Lead mechanical and process design principles and standards.
• Develop and revise engineering procedures, specifications, and standards.
• Lead project kick-offs, design gate reviews, milestones, and closeouts.
• Provide mentorship and technical oversight to engineering staff.
• Coordinate department activities and manage workload of direct reports.
• Monitor scope, schedule, budget, and technical risk across projects.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and development of team personnel.
