Job summary

McCarl's and Affiliates is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for heavy industrial projects spanning power, chemical, metals, and oil & gas sectors. The role ensures deliverables meet standards, aligns with schedules and budgets, and may mentor a project team.

The engineer will create electrical deliverables (SLDs, lighting plans, panel layouts, I/O lists), review P&ID interfaces, and apply knowledge of HMI/SCADA/DCS/PLCs while collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer license is preferred.
• Display knowledge of industry standard design practices and phased engineering delivery.
• Understanding of design codes and standards (ATEX, UL, IEEE, ASCE, ACI, AISC, IBC, NEC, NFPA, etc.).
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with all levels in the company.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Ability to establish and maintain good customer relationships.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word; intermediate Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to safely visit sites to review scope with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage the creation of electrical and control deliverables (SLDs, lighting plans, panel layouts, I/O lists, etc.).
• Review and advise on P&ID design related to electrical and control items.
• Work with HMI/SCADA/DCS/PLCs in modern and legacy systems.
• Provide technical mentorship and peer reviews to engineering staff.
• Support construction or operation sites as needed.
• Lead multiple projects concurrently.
• Visit sites to verify scope and coordinate with clients and vendors.
• Participate in recruitment and onboarding of team personnel.
• Monitor and report project status weekly.
